LOL! Seriously. OK, well if I turn down the volume to the point that it stops the popping and crackling then I CAN'T HEAR ANY SOUND AT ALL!

Whatever.

I have had quite a few Samsungs and they've all made similar sounds (including the Tab 10.1). At first I was worried I got a defective one, but after looking into it, I am pretty sure the popping sound is actually the speaker turning OFF.

I know that might sound weird, but turn it up, listen close, and see what you think. My thought is, the speaker turns on, makes whatever noise it is supposed to make, and then has a short delay before completely turning off.

Let me know what you think.

Yes, that is what happens with mine but I think I also get it sometimes when the speaker turns on. So if I had to guess I would say it is getting a power surge upon turning on or off, what do you think?

It doesn't seem to change by adjusting the volume. I can still hear the sounds when I turn the volume down, the popping and crackling is just at a lower volume.
