Hoping for a bug fix VERY SOON!

Yup I had 5 apps update ,then I got the same error . Didn't know which app caused the error . I just uninstalled the update and rebooted the phone . No more error .

I had the same problem after the Verizon update a few days ago... I turned off the Vz service and now I'm fine

Same here.

I don't know what VZWAV service does, but turning it off does not seem to have affected anything.

I received this message too after the updates I did yesterday. Then today when I booted up my phone I didn't get the error message anymore. I didn't disable anything, it just stopped.

Hi all! I've been dealing with the same message and am experiencing all that you have shared as well... except for the reply in which the error message has gone away. Turns out that avs- stands for address verification system. This service had originally come with my new galaxy phone on a trial basis but then I remember receiving several messages warning me that the service would expire soon. So no more caller ID. I can live with that. I'm not sure how to cancel the error message, however. Hippie this helps!

I had all of the VZW services disabled long before the update came out.

For my part, I did not notice anything different about my phone at all for a couple of days.

Then there were a few idioms that I did not appreciate. What they are, I have forgotten now as I got around them, or just became used to them, or never would have used it anyway.

I never root a phone so that "update fix" won't effect me anyway.

Still, I don't like the way it got crammed down our throats w/o asking permission or Explaining in Advance what the update does. Had they done that, I would never have allowed the update to take place.

Guess I spoke too soon. I started getting the message again after a reboot Friday. It is random, today when I woke up and turned it on I didn't get the message.

I turned off the service last week when I started getting the message. It had caused the loss of some system sounds that worked again once I disabled the service and I've noticed some perkiness (phone, not me) since disabling the service. No ill side effects whatsoever.

VZWAVServices are just messages about amber reports and bad weather. nothing to worry about.

According to what?

AC App on SGS3

I'd like to know where you got that information about Amber Alerts and Severe Weather Alerts too. I didn't even know that service could be disabled (even though I don't know why anyone would want to do this on my S3 IMHO). I hope that you live in an area that doesn't have a lot of severe weather or at least have signed up for local alerts so that you can get the severe weather alerts in a timely manner so that you can get to a safe place if weather hits in your area. I'm from Vincennes, Indiana and we have a service here called Code Red Alerts when there's severe weather approaching the area. Might be worth seeing if anything like that is available in your area. Those alerts come through on the phone in plenty of time for you to get to safety if need be.

I live in the northeastern part of Oklahoma USA Indian Territory,

our area is termed by the Weather Bureau as "Tornado Alley"

You don't dare turn off those push notifications for Amber Alerts or bad weather here.

Just like in Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and a lot of other mid-western states..... owning a fraidy hole is something to brag about , not be ashamed of.

Cindylike24,

I found this post from Duster14 on the Verizon forums. I'd post a link to it, but this forum isn't letting me do that.

VZWAVSSERVICE is the VeriZon Wireless Address Verification System Service. Banks use the AVS Service to verify your address when you make a purchase with your credit or debit card. An AVS authentication failure can result in a credit card sale being denied, and the sale and associated funds put on hold until the bank is able to verify that the person attempting to make the purchase is in fact the card holder (by matching the address entered to the billing address the bank has on file)..

Here is how I turned mine off... go to settings, applications, application manager. It should be on the "Download" screen when you first get there. Then swipe it over to " All", scroll down to vzwavsservice, click on it, clear cache and force shutdown or turn it off. See if that works. I no longer get that message on my phone after start-up. If it doesn't help you can always swipe over to "Turned Off" under the same application manager screen and turn it back on. Hope this temporary fix helps you out.

Thank you for sharing this information on here. It gave me a lot of very useful information that I didn't have before.

I started getting the error after an automatic google + update. This caused my email to quit working correctly for some strange reason. I could send emails, but not receive. I delegated the updates and disabled google +. 20 min later I got errors again because it automatically updated. Repeated the process but this time instead of disabling, I deleted it. I then had to delete my email and reinstall. Pain in the ****, but all is working fine now

Good tip FlipKay. The steps you gave are correct. Its been my experience the error occurs after a device restart on the Galaxy S3, S4, & S5.

I'll list the steps in numeric format for those who prefer lists
1) Go to settings
2) Applications
3) Application manager
4) Swipe over to "ALL"
5) Scroll down to VZWAVSSERVICE & click on it
6) Tap force stop and clear data
7) Restart the device
8) Repeat steps 1-3
9) Swipe over to "Turned off"
10) Tap into VZWAVSSERVICE and tap turn on

These steps always work however the error may appear again after a power cycle (restart)

Ever since I've been getting this message it seems as though my battery drains extremely fast, like 10% just while it's turn in on. Then it will turn off at 50% better life. The other night, while holding it, the battery was 62% then immediately went to 17% then shut off. When I plug itin to charge it says I have 50% battery left. Wth??
