Absolutely not. Both SD cards and $900 phones are completely pointless in modern devices and the market has been moved beyond both for a couple of years now. With recent improvements to Android SD cards can now be used more securely and some OEM's seem to be willing to grant them another chance - however the best device available in 128GB is only $650 (not discounted Nexus 6P, it starts at $500 for 32GB) and for those who feel that they need the MicroSD card slot, the Moto X Pure Edition with 64GB is only $500 and starts off as low as $400. Those are two 5.7" flagships that put the obvious exclamation point at the end of the price argument. And IIRC, the LG V10 is also only about $675 for a 64GB with an SD card slot.
So $300 of the $950 is wasted in just about every example and it is possible to get a better device than the $950 device for $500 or less and still have total storage remain well above 64 or 128G. Therefore it would be my opinion that no phone is worth $950. The best device available maxes out at $650 and for those who need the microSD card, the two next best devices max out between $500 and $675 respectively.
