So I know T-mobile's waiting period from when your last bill cycles and when you could sign a new contract is 90 days, but does that apply to month to month as well? I'm month to month on Verizon, so would I be able to port my number over to T-mobile as a month to month customer, even though its only been 45ish days?

What waiting cycle are you talking about? You can port a number over whenever you want to.

If you leave a carrier, there's a waiting period before you can open a new account. For most carriers its 30 days, for T-mobile its 90.

Were you planning on porting your number into T-Mobile? Or have you already closed your other account?

when you leave one carrier for another it does require a contract you won't be on month to month is this what you are asking?

That's not necessarily true, T-Mobile does have no contracted monthly plans.

I guess I just don't understand the whole waiting period thing haha. Are you just expected to be without cell phone service for a month? And does it only apply when you aren't porting in a number? Because I port people in all the time without issue.

Does this only apply if you're canceling and paying a termination fee? If you were to port back in, that'd be considered a winback, and they would want you to reinstate your previous contract, as to not give you a bigger subsidy on another device. If you're out of contract, I can't imagine why they wouldn't want you back as soon as possible.

Paid an ETF, so the account was closed.

I was just unsure if you could go month to month on a device you bring in, even if you are technically within the waiting period.

You should have just ported the number so you could have gotten service right away. I still don't see how any cell phone provider could prevent you from signing a new contract with someone else right away.

I guess prepaid would be the way to go for you until then because the non-contracted plans still require a credit check, which I would imagine that's how Verizon/T-Mobile would know if you're in the waiting period. But unless you had a Blackberry Storm you wouldn't be able to use your handset on T-Mobile anyways because you'll need to be able to insert a SIM card into it.

Ohhh, no that's not what I mean. I can still port to whoever, or just sign a new contract with Verizon. But, I was thinking of maybe going month to month on T-mobile and waiting until my 90 days are up and re-signing with them.

OOOOOOOK now it's clicking :)

The waiting period applies to the company you just left. I got it. Is there a reason that's making you flip-flop between the two companies?

Well, I wanted the Bionic, but its going to be a while. And in the mean-time T-mobile's HSPA+ is the fastest non LTE speeds you can get.

Got my answer tonight; I can get a G2X and either choose to reactivate my old account with my old tenure. (basically resuming that contract, but still paying full price for the phone) Or I can go monthly prepaid. I can't do month to month postpaid since I'm still within the 90 days.

Basically, its more of a hassle than its worth.
