Hey guys....sorry if this has been covered. I have version 1.1-R41v8 and get asked to update to 1.1R52v7...which I can't of course. My question is will my current version still work? I'm down to about a buck and didn't want to add funds if it won't work now either. Bummer because I loved it if only for the "wow factor."

Have you tried to update yours? Mine updated just fine (although it has a scary "Device Not Supported" message). I'm using the Wallet that was included in the Modaco ROM, but another alternative is to just download the latest APK.

I just installed mine today fresh on a stock 4.0.4 install. Here's what I did:

Open the browser on your phone and navigate to the web version of the Market
Search for Google Wallet and when you click it, open it up in the Market instead of the browser
I installed it just like that, and was on my way to activating my pre-paid card.

Haven't tested it yet in a store, but the app seems to be functioning 100%.

I'm going to try this way tonight. I'm thinking about going to a 4.0.4 ROM or just back to stock. If I go back to stock I'm wiping everything!! And possible relocking it. Make it seem like it's fresh from the factory if it's possible. Then I'm going to try and install Wallet that way (which I think I originally saw on droid-life). If it still doesn't work for me......then I think I'll have to give up :'( :( :'(

The 'Try in browser' wont work anymore, has been that way for about two weeks. Anybody have the new .apk for Wallet?

Unfortunately, this will all probably become moot because Wallet will probably be going away soon, sue to the fact that Isis will be launching this Summer.

It does work, you just need to tweak the last step. Instead of doing the whole install from browser and sign into your gmail account, simply try opening the page for the Google Wallet app and instead of opening it in the browser open it in the market. It takes you directly to the Wallet app page in the android app market on your phone and you can install it. That simple.

I'm positive it works because I did it twice yesterday. I ended up doing a total wipe and restored my old stock 4.0.4 rom and forgot I didn't have it installed on my backup.

Im not getting an option to open in market...it just has an install button on the browser...how do you open it up in market from the browser, Im not figuring it out

video helped...also helped to not use dolphin...think that was a problem for me as well. After using stock browser and working with it for a bit it is now installing...thanks

It should still work. I did it two days ago. Here is the procedure I used (taken from one of the comments in the droid life article).

Put your phone in airplane mode. Turn on WiFi.
Go to this link on your phone: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ogle.android.apps.walletnfcrel&token=qeY9P5cU (Google Wallet Market Link).
When it asks if you want to open in Market or Browser, select Market.
Install.

I basically got there by going through the comments and trying each one, until this one worked. This was after the Market turned into the Play Store, but I can't remember if I had gotten the update for it when I installed wallet.

Good Luck!

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I'm either not doing it correctly or it's not working. I had previously tried the "in browser" method and had just tried what Dark said regarding doing the last step in the market rather than staying in the brower. In the market it says "this item is not supported by your carrier" and no option to update or download. What am I missing? I'll watch the youtube video next chance I get to slack off a few moments at work. Appreciate. Glad Google told Big Red to off but not so much if this is the end result...

btw I'm bone stock (waiting on v1.4 from wugfresh).

The way I got it to work was to go into the browser and do a search for wallet. Tap on google wallet. You will get a pop to open the market in your browser or the the App, choose the browser. go to install and it should say not supported. Press back and you should get the pop up for browser or Market again. This time choose market and you should be able to get the install option with in the market.

If that does not work, the other option is to side load the APK (you do not need to be rooted to do this and the link to the APK is in another thread in this forum). After you install it shoudl show the wallet app in your app list in the market and you should have the option to update to the latest version from there.

Hope one of these options help :)

YES!! That worked Danv! Like you said hit back from the browser, then choose the market, and then it gave me the prompt to update. So stupid. Perhaps that was what Dark meant too. Either way it's updated. Might even be easier to use a debit card, but I love the look on people's faces using the GNEX. Thanks again, everyone. Love this phone and the support. Props.

Awesome glad it worked for you.

Since the update when I use Wallet it no longer vibrates when the transactions is sent. I can not find a setting for vibration in the wallet app settings. Also seems a little slower to transmit. Anyone else having this issue?

A couple factors that may affect it is this is the first I have used it on 4.0.4 and I am also using liteflow so I am not sure if that will have an affect on the vibration.

I used it this morning and it worked the same as it always did..aka vibrated and a little tune when it sends payment. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it works, but I thought I'd share.

thanks for the feedback

I did everything perfectly. Got wallet on my phone then after the initiating device screen I got this pop-up:

So it leads me to believe that being rooted had something to do with it. My friend Chris got his to work, but he's stock. So I need to get back to stock somehow if I ever want wallet on my phone again.

Maybe try a different ROM, I thought I saw someone on one of the other Wallet threads say they were rooted and it worked.
