wallpaper challenge

When I download a wallpaper for my phone and try to set it as the home screen it only let's me pick a square part of it ...is there anyway to get the whole picture set as the wallpaper..

It all depends on the photo. If it's a landscape photo, then you can't do it without showing some black edges on the top and bottom of your screen. If it's a portrait photo, then depending on the aspect ratio, you might be able to resize the photo in your phones gallery app by editing it. You still may not be able to get the whole photo to show up without some edge cropping.

What phone do you have, and does your gallery app have the ability to edit photos? If the photo is shareable, you can attach the photo to your reply, or a link to the photo, and we can see what can be done with it.
 
It can also be effected by what launcher you're using and whether or not you have wallpaper scrolling enabled. Once you turn off wallpaper scrolling (if it's an option), you should have the option to set a rectangle wallpaper rather than a square.
