AC Question

About a week ago my homescreen seemed to have a yellowish layer on the wallpaper. It is only affecting my homescreen wallpaper.

My lockscreen wallpaper is fine, the picture is clear. When I look at photos or open any applications, the screen is clear and the colours are fine.

Auto brightness is off
Auto adjust screen tone is off
Colour adjustment is off
Changing the screen mode doesn't seem to be the problem

Please help!

Thanks

Welcome to the forums. What device do you have? Have you already tried changing the wallpaper? Does the problem persist? Also, which way are you setting the wallpaper, from the launcher or from the Gallery?

I'm on a Samsung Note 3.
I've tried changing the wallpaper and its still the same.

I have attached a couple screenshots of what I'm seeing.

Thanks

Thanks for registering? Which way are you setting the wallpaper? Have you tried after a long press on the home screen? Maybe there's some specific setting for that device so I'll move your thread to the Note 3 forum, where it'll be easier getting feedback from other owners.

I've had the phone for 3 years now and this just happened last week.
Tried playing around with a bunch of stuff..

I have tried setting the wallpaper through the settings button. I have tried holding the home screen and setting it through the menu screen that pops up there.

You could try booting into safe mode and see if the problem persists. This process will temporarily disable any third app that you downloaded. It seems this worked for some people having a similar problem.

It seems that the problem went away in safe mode. Now how do I figure out where the problem is coming from. I don't believe I have downloaded any new apps recently.

That means the culprit is a third party app that you downloaded and probably the problem started after it received an update. It should be an app with 'draw over other apps' permission, but I'm not sure how to check that on the Note 3.

Finding the culprit is going to a be a patience game as you need to disable one by one until the problem disappears. I would start for the usual suspects, cleaner/booster apps (anything you have by Cheetah Mobile - CM), any app that controls the screen brightness, Facebook Messenger (disable the chat heads), etc.
