Wallpaper on LG Ally Help

So I'm trying to use a picture that I took with my digital camera that I transfered to my Ally's sd card, for a wall paper. I tried resizing it to the 480x800 resolution, but everytime i try to set it as my wallpaper a little box pops up to select which part of the picture i want as my wallpaper. And it ends up looking like crap and all zoomed in. I just switched to Android from a blackberry storm. On my storm i could just set a picture as my wallpaper and it would automatically format it to fit the screen. is there a way to do this on android?

Search for Wallpaper Set and Save on the market. Thats the best way to set wallpapers on android.

i downloaded set and save and it still zooms in

It's going to set it so that the image best fits the device. Are you sure it's zooming and not just fitting the image and spreading across the homescreens?
