I could have sworn there used to be a mobile payment section but after spending a lot of time scrolling a couple of times, I could not find it. tell you what, the person who designed this forum needs to be fired - way too much unnecessary scrolling

anyway, I used walmart pay several times the last couple of days but did not need to verify the account with a finger scan or pin before using. anyone else noticed the change? not too sure if I like that though it does help speed things up.

I used Kroger pay yesterday for the first time and had to scan my finger print, type in the pin twice, then scan my fingerprint again before paying for my purchase. good thing there was not a line at the self check out. I am guessing it is the only time I will have to do that. kind of surprised me.

I wouldn't say fired. That would be too easy. Go home forget about the forum, maybe start a new one. Eeh. Now a flogging. That's something that will stay with a person for awhile. Then have em keep working, at a sitting desk. Yeah, now we're talking. LOL

Could it have used facial recognition instead? I remember not long ago there being a lot of talk about Android forcing app developers to include facial recognition for security biometrics. I kind of forgot about that until now because none of my apps have included it, most not even as an option.

I've about had it with the Discover app though. I think they need to be flogged. Every time I open the app it asks if I want to enable fingerprint but it never let's me. OK, no problem I can't enable it, so just stop asking me. Oh, no can't do that. Gotta remind you how easy it used to be. I'm pretty sure that by now Samsung has fixed the fingerprint issue. Most of my apps never stopped using it even when they gave me a warning at the time that it may be unwise or unsafe.

Well I can't find confirmation either way. Nothing new has been reported, that I can find, saying that the app works without pin or fingerprint and nothing includes facial recognition as an option??? Don't want to seem alarmist, there's enough of that these days, but I'd try clearing the cache for the app to see if that resolved it, followed by the data and starting over if that didn't. I mean no one is going to know yours is busted and if they did get your device they probably wouldn't be able to access it anyway, but it should work.

it was not a facial recognition thing since I was wearing a mask. my phone won't even unlock when wearing masks.

Yeah, I wasn't able to find anything saying they had updated their biometrics to include facial recog so I'm at a loss.

I can open Samsung and Google Pay without intending to use it and enter my fingerprint like I'm going to use it, I'm wondering if you would test it now, where ever you are just to see if it would require it or not, just as a test. I'm curious what its behavior would be because I'm wondering if you were on autopilot and unlocked it without realizing that you were unlocking it? Like the way we end up at home but can't remember the drive or end up on the other side of a stop or turn we always make but can't remember making even though it was just moments ago.

Again it's like leaving your backdoor unlocked, no one would ever know it's unlocked because they wouldn't be expecting it so it's probably not a huge security risk for you. Plus it's also not like they would be able to get into the phone far enough to try but it's still something that should work.
