Wanting to stay in app menu after exiting app

I open the app menu from the home screen. I open an app and use it. When I'm done I then close the app by hitting the return button...
This takes me back to the home screen. Is there a way to exit out of the app and still be in the app menu?

I don't know about the stock MotoBlur launcher , but you can do that with ADW launcher & ADW launcherEX

I guess I forgot to mention that I'm using Launcher Pro as my home screen. I just switched back to Motobur, and Motoblur does stay in the app menu when you exit the app.

So I guess it's a Launcher Pro issue. I know this is trivial, as it just requires an additional button push, but sometimes its annoying.
