I've been having issues with the speaker not making noise when I get a notification. I've tried changing the sound in the settings, clearing the cache, but haven't gotten it to work consistently.
I have moto care but would this be covered under warranty? Also if they do decide to replace the phone would it be at all possible to have them upgrade it to the 32GB model?

As far as upgrading, no. They'll only replace it with like-for-like. They'll also first ask that you factory reset and see if that fix your problem, so I would suggest you do that now. Also, make sure the settings for those particular apps giving you problems are set for notification sounds. Aside from the global system settings, you need to enable the per app setting within that particular app.
