I have a Nexus 6P and it runs the best of any Android phone I have ever had. Still, there is a thread of mistrust I have in the back of my mind and wondered if I was the only one...Does anyone else feel a little paranoid about using this wonderful cellphone, though it is from China with the stories about them stealing our info from the device? Or I am being paranoid? Please share your opinions.

I am fairly new to Android, but I feel like the Nexus manufacturer is one of the most reputable. I would just exercise regular caution while using your phone (i.e. back things up, password protect it or use a PIN or pattern to unlock, don't leave banking or personal information without safeguarding it/the apps) - but don't over-worry. :) Enjoy your phone!

Yeah, no you're on your own on that one. :D It's 100% Google software, so it's exactly as trustworthy as the Nexus 5X from LG or the Nexus 6 from Moto. Well, until you put apps on it. Then it's exactly as trustworthy as your security settings and your apps.

Still the best phone out there, until this fall at any rate. Use it and enjoy it!

Man you are proper paranoid... Watched to much 24 or something

Huawei makes the phone, but Google controls the software 100%, so there's no chance of some hidden Chinese conspiracy in the phone. But there is a price to pay with Nexus, which is your priavacy: the phone uses your location to gather a lot of information about you. It also keeps that information - it's not China you need to worry about. I'm not insinuating Google does malicious things with our information, but we are still giving it up to them in exchange for the convenience the device brings to our lives.

That's applicable to any device running Google Location Services - so all Android devices and some others. Nothing different on a Nexus in that regard from a Samsung Galaxy S7 or a Moto G.

Yep, and I'm not one to be paranoid about such things or buy into conspiracy theories. I just thought I'd point out that, if there is a conspiracy, it's more likely to be Google than China.

Since the majority of our technology is produced overseas, I tend to think no one who owns a phone has true privacy. Oh and the part about our government having records of phone logs, etc.

It's OK to be prudent about your information. After all it's yours but remember your information everything we allow like electronic records, driver's license, tax stuff etc. It's all been a matter of public records for years now. This is the start of the digital age. Yes more safe guards should be in place. But right now it's been primarily the big corporations like Google, Apple, and many others that bare the responsibility for protecting it. Because the required government regulations are still being crafted. That's where we are at right now. So a little caution is not a bad thing. Just don't start wearing aluminum hats just yet. Lol.

If you are actually wary of the 6P you likely shouldn't be using Android at all. I feel the Nexus phones offer the most up to date security possible on Android, along with a long support lifespan. There seem to be a couple of others out there that concentrate on a couple of phones in the overall lineup but as they age they slip right off the update map.

I would say that Huawei's plan to be increasingly relevant in the Western world would be severely hindered if they were caught spying on their new customers. I'm not saying it's not possible, just that it's not ideal at this time. Now, in five years, once Huawei has moved up the list of OEMs and has millions and millions of new users......get the aluminum foil hats ready. Ha ha

And as a user of an Honor X1, Honor X2, P8 Max, and 6P, I'm only kidding. :)

I would't say you're paranoid, as there have been many companies caught installing spyware for Western products. This phone however is running completely stock Android, and is being watched over by a huge developer base. If any unknown connections were being made to/from the phone, everyone would know about it.

I was laying in bed last night and could swear I heard 2 guys speaking in Chinese coming from the speaker in my 6P
