Was the Gnex launch screwed up? Who's to blame?

Even asking the question about a phone that had no release date that is merely surviving by rumors is kind of funny. Of coarse it's screwed up! Verizon doesn't want our money! I was digging the conspiracy theories for awhile that "ohhh verizon doesn't like this phone because they can't bloat that stuff up and make the moolah". Considering most people view bloatware negatively and complain on and on about it in reviews and message boards, i doubt they make THAT much to where they put off the launch of a phone.

I'm leaning towards aliens controlling the shipment/stock and the delayed launch is due to the mind control devices not working properly. When they have the nexus stock programmed to control people to buy more accessories at your nearest verizon store and add every "vcast" feature possible the second you get it, we'll get a launch date. Trust me

Verizon is definitely to blame, but Google should really grow a pair and take control of the situation. I'm starting to blame the both of them. Google has to realize it's own power; Verizon needs Google, not the other way around.

Google can't really do anything. The real mistake Google made was allowing their flagship phone to be released initially on Verizon. There's a reason why the iPhone took so long to come to big red. There's a reason the GS2 can be bought on pretty much ever corner of the globe, but doesn't exist if you're a Verizon customer.

Verizon uses their superior network to justify their idiotic phone releases.

But Google really could do something. Stopping Android sales on Verizon would really crush Verizon (in the short-term). Google has the power to make that happen.

Does anyone have any verifiable proof of their theory?

Why immediately condemn Verizon, Samsung or Google?

As long as the phone us out by black Friday I wouldn't call the launch screwed up but if it comes out later then Samsung/Google will have missed out on a huge opportunity and it will be all on Verizon.

I don't think Google could stop the sell of Android even if they wanted to... they would end up pissing off the phone manufacturers.

But, once again, the manufacturers need Google more than Google needs them. Google will soon have Motorola and can do it's own thing if it had to. Manufacturers have sank so many resources into Android, it would not be smart to switch solely to an alternative OS (windows).

In the end Google just wants as many android units in the hands of customers. They're making money on search. Boycotting Verizon wouldn't help the bottom line.

You have a point. But I guess the question is how important is the nexus device to Google? I think of it as their most important device and they would not like it being shafted. Since it is the developer phone, ICS app development will be delayed here in the states until it's release, right? I'm not exactly sure how development works, but I assume it would require the only device running ICS.

Google will put up with a lot from Verizon because they absolutely want their phone in Verizon's customers' hands. They would be monumentally stupid to boycott Verizon. Verizon doesn't really need to have a Nexus device, but they too would like to have it, but it is just not a huge priority for them. Only phone nerds like us think this and most every Verizon (and others') launch is screwed up. But the great majority of Verizon's customers have never heard of a Nexus and wouldn't really want one even if they had. They want an iPhone or a Droid or Blackberry or whatever seems like a good deal or whatever a mediocre sales rep tells them they should buy.

To be quiet honest, Verizon didn't mess up in any fashion. They put "later this year" for a reason, we're pulling out our hairs because we get rumors every other day. Think about if there was no rumors and we was all just going off their "later this year", doubt people would think it's software related or Verizon wanting people to buy a Razr/Rezound instead (which makes no sense to me a phone is a phone to Verizon, they're all priced the same it's not up to Verizon to make a phone profitable it's up to the manufacturer although Verizon can advertise). My hutch is it just isn't ready yet, production wise or whatever. Think about all the Droid 1 users, Storm 1 and all the people waiting for this phone. What do they gain from keeping it to themselves? People say Apple put their foot down, that could be true, but it is anecdotal also, we have no hard evidence of the latter. I feel like a guy pursuing a women who keep standing him up, i'm all worn out, i'm just going to wait until she comes around cause i'm done chasing her. This is what i'm going off of:

Verizon have always released phones that where buggy i doubt one friggin' app would cost them to stop the whole production of a line of phones, i mean come on.

Verizon saying later this year, meaning literally just that, if it was ready i think they would have given a date already in the announcement (we don't know what is keeping it from ready but i doubt it's one app just my opinion because of the above).

The Nexus is scoring huge on reviews and Verizon would be the only US carrier carrying it, why would they risk major imports, this would be a easy way to convert others over.

Whatever the cause are for the delays, the funny part is when i finally get the phone, it's just going to be like a regular phone to me after a day. People want what they cannot have even more.

TL;DR Verizon said later this year, technical it isn't their fault.

Its LTE problem. If it was just 3g the nexi would have been released. Lte has been a thorn in vzw since thunderchicken was released. They rushed that network and u have tmo and sprint to blame for the rush job. We r nothing but s bunch of beta testers for lte.

Like everyone else, I'm quite upset to see rumored release dates come and go.
In the end, they're just that. Rumors.
There were numerous people chiming in with info from their so called sources.
So far, all of those rumored dates were wrong.
I wouldn't be surprised if a few of those posters were nothing more than trolls trying to stir things up, or create posts they feel will get a lot of hits.
In the end, Verizon has never given a release date, so I can't be too upset with them.
I am upset that I wish the device would have been released sooner.
