Watch Active 2 Samsung Health workout won't stop

[Android Central Question]

When I start a workout, or when a workout auto starts, I can't figure out how to stop it. I press the back button or the widgets button, but neither one stops the workout. Sometimes if I go to the widget and press the back button, it will give me the red "finish" option, but not reliably. If I push enough buttons long enough eventually I can get it to stop, but there must be some simple way to end the workout?

With more research I find that when I allow the watch to autostart a workout I can't stop it manually. If I want to pause or stop it with the back button I can only do that if I started the workout manually.

Another reason why I manually start all activities on my AW2. That said, I went for a walk yesterday that the watch recognized as such, and about 15 sec. after I stopped, it notified me that I had finished my walk. I have no idea why (i.e., what settings may be at work), but perhaps Samsung support may be of some help (don't hold your breath).
