Watch not automatically reconnecting

Whenever my watch disconnects from phone [due to going outside of Bluetooth range], it doesn't auto reconnect even when phone and watch are kept in close proximity again. I have to manually go to Bluetooth and then click on Galaxy Watch [Galaxy Watch 6, this is] for it to force connect.
