Water-resistant case + Marine use...?

Two questions in one:

What is a fairly good and affordable N7 (2012) water-resistant case?

What apps have worked well as N7 as poor-man marine GPS (Navionics, MX Mariner, etc)
Notes:
I am not crossing the Atlantic, just protected coastal waters.
I find the Navionics product choices confusing

REI will have somthing good if you can't find a made-for case. If you are close in to shore or not on the ocean Backcountry Trails will use just about any topo map and your built-in GPS. I think that includes some coast line nautical charts. You can try it free but the map sources charge (except some government stuff.
