Wave function on LS not working

I used to use the wave feature on my galaxy note 4 to see my lock screen when it was asleep. Since installing 5.1.1 my phone doesn't seem to have this feature anymore. I've looked all over the settings to turn it on but I can't find it anywhere. I would like to be able to swipe my hand over the lock screen when it's off and have it show me my messages. Did 5.1.1 get rid of this feature on the note? Thanks!
