Bought an HTC Hero in August of 2009 and got on the $99.99 everything unlimited plan. When I heard about the $69.99 data plan (which wasn't until a few months ago sadly enough) I called up Sprint and asked to be switched to the lower plan. I asked if it would reset my eligibility for upgrade and they said no. I double checked and they were correct it did'nt mess with the time I already had into my contract. Where I'm going with this is if I could switch down to that plan with no penalty couldn't you in theory go back up to the $99.99 plan which automatically qualifies you for Gold Premier status (1 year upgrade)
then switch back after 1 month? You would be basically paying the $30 extra for 1 month but you would get the full $150 off for a new contract when buying the phone. So instead of getting just $75 dollars off for only being 1 year into your contract you could end up getting $120 off. Am I delusional or would this be possible?
