way to tell when a text comes in while on the phone?

The incredible always vibrated when a text came in while I was talking on the phone.
I have the vibrate setting already checked, but don't realize I have a text until the call is over. Sometimes the texts are much more important than the call!
Also, I don't like the look of the bubbles talking back and forth. I liked the Dinc's list, with my and the contact's picture next to each text. Any 3rd party app like that? Handscent seems to be giant colorful conversation bubbles. Don't care for the look. Anyone have suggestions for my text woes?

In handset under settings - notification settings all the way on the bottom are sound on call and vibrate on call.

Under settings - custom style - bubble settings. Choose conversation style then android. That should be like your old phone.

Mine will beep if I get a txt while on the phone. It's subtle, but it's there.

Ok open handcent so you see all people you have texted.
Then hit the far left menu button (the four squares)
Choose settings (the gear)
Choose notification settings (the notes)
Then notification settings again (the 4th one down under notification settings heading)
Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, about three screens to sound on call and vibrate on call under notification on call heading. Check one or both to know when you get a text during a call.
