weak GPS signal

I've only had my galaxy nexus for about a month and I've really enjoyed it coming from a droid 3. I'm really disappointed though in the GPS signal or lack of signal this gets. I work with a bunch of people who use iPhones and I'm constantly telling them how much better android is. Then we go for walks and we are all turning on our "map my fitness apps" the iPhone's lock on to GPS I immediately and I have to wait until I'm outside before I get kicked on. Even now while I type this I'm outside on a very overcast day and I can't get a signal. Anyone else have issues?
