Weak wifi from 10 meters

hi, got my new Razr yesterday. I can't get connected to my router from my bedroom. I've tried every wifi channel in the router settings , channel 11 seems best.

So I then charge the phone and it manages to get 1 bar when held vertically, turn horizontally it gets 2 bars.. Remove from charge 0 bars.

My laptop is getting 80% wifi signal from the same location.

Anyone else have same issue ?

Yea, mine reads a little weak too, my AP is in the basement, and I was on the mainfloor, however a speed test showed I was getting same speeds as my laptop(18/2).

My feeling is the signal strength indicator may not be accurate.

It's def not a signal bar mis-read.. When it goes to zero, wifi cuts out with no connection.

However ur right about speedtest. Just tried it on 2 bars and I got full speed.

Get Wifi Analyzer from the Market and see what going on. You can set it to show the decibels or the connection. The higher the number, the worse it is. Just like with phone reception. And it can show if other ppl are on the same channel as you. I think I've read that having alot of ppl on the same channel effects reception too. For the first time in months I'm on a channel by myself..lol.

If Wifi was stronger on other phones or devices, it could be the phone. I found out my router needed to be replaced. I had it for years tho, so it was time.
