Weather app crashing?

Any idea why the main weather app crashes when trying to open it? I don't really use it but the main clock/weather widget thing hits me with an "unfortunately, weather has stopped" if I try to open it and hitting the little refresh icon to get a more current reading starts to spin but ultimately does no updating.

I noticed something was up with it when it was stuck on a temperature from a couple days ago. Regular clock part works fine though. Weird. Haven't done anything that could have precipitated this.

Do you have "Location" on ?
Maybe it tries to update current weather .

Also, are you able to set your home or default location setting? If so, try doing that. That may help things, as well.

Yup, location is on.

EDIT: Just turned location off and on through the main phone setting, and then pressed the little refresh button on the widget, and somehow it refreshed to current date, time and weather reading. But I still can't open the Weather app?

EDIT: Tried it again and now it's not refreshing to change from 3:25am to 3:29am. I don't know. Annoying.

Also, are you able to set your home or default location setting? If so, try doing that. That may help things, as well.

Nothing involving the Weather app works unfortunately. Any time I press it, it tries to open but it just crashes out.

Maybe removing the widget, rebooting phone, then add the widget will help.

Same thing on my Note 5. I thought it was related to my S3 Frontier watch because that stopped getting weather updates as well. I did a hard reset and the weather updated a couple of times then stopped working. I wouldnt care much because i installed a different app on the phone but i liked having current weather on my watch.

Happened to me for weeks. Fixed when I went into apps and cleared cache and data within weather app options.

Nope, still the same old. Very weird. I'll have to try removing the widget, restarting the phone then re-adding.

EDIT: This didn't work.

I tried clearing the individual weather app cache and also wiped the cache partition to no avail.

Interesting to see others have had similar issues but yeah, clearing cache didn't work.

How crazy, I deleted the cache in the individual weather app but this time I said "screw it" and deleted the data for it also. I figured what's the data, a few cities I loaded in? It now works! WTF.

Well, I'm a pixel owner but found this thread while trying to deal with weather channel app crashing.
I cleared both cache and data for the app but it's still crashing once launched. It was working fine this noon. Wonder what happened.
