Web Search Application

I need to know if there is any way to remove web searching from a LG Optimus S phone. We are trying to get rid of any temptations that may come our way and the android phone is not very user friendly to try and alleviate that. Please Let me know!

Remove temptations? Part of the Android experience is all the internet rich content. As far as removing icons, I don't think you are able to do so unless you are rooted, and even then I'm not sure if you can. As I said, internet and web search is a big part of a smart phone.

why did you get this phone if you dont plan to use it to its full protential? that is the whole point of a smart phone to have all those functions. If you dont want them get a regular phone with not thrills.

+1. If you don't want the net, then no smart phone either. No other options, period.

Some people could have a valid reason. Maybe they got the phone for a teen and later realized they want to limit their time on the net, or perhaps they got the phone free with a contract, but have to disable internet. (sorry but I only know of sex offenders who aren't allowed to use the net) We shouldn't just shut them down. This is a nice forum where we help people guys.

Again. @ram5578: Do you want to disable the net completely? or just widgets like google search or perhaps the browser being removed?

Well thank-you captmeach. We got this phone and we love it! No sex offenders here, we just don't want full internet access. We wanted to downgrade phones but that costs as much as upgrading and we have a while before we can do that. Maybe instead what I am looking for is a filter of some sort. Like with blockers and things. Like for the iPhone you can get what is called k9 web protection. SO, with having a smart phone, you can have internet but there are limitations. That is all I am looking for. Blocking out images, disabling image searches, blocking pornography (this probably sounds bad but whatever it is what I need) websites etc. The internet can be a great thing but it can also be a terrible thing so I am looking for something to block out the terrible. Removing browser would be okay if that is all that is available.

well you can remove the icons altogether and then block app downloads through your Sprint account. They have a web restriction feature, but it doesn't work on smartphones.

You can password lock the apps like browser with app lock or like app safe.

you can watch usage with something like x3watch.
