week and half till os update

we are a week and a half away from scheduled update. im assuming this is an ota only. who is as excited as i am on this? every time i had an os update on my storm i was like a lil kid on xmas morning....i have nooo idea why.lol who is getting pumped for this update? or is it only me? lol

I'm looking forward to it, just to see how much they cram into it and how well the changes are implemented, mainly to give me an idea on what to expect in the future from google/android updates.

I think there is a "sticky" for it in one of the top 2 or 3 forum posts. Somone will post a link for you I'm sure. I know there's going to be some more camera auto focus fixes, and SMS character counter, and hoefully 160+ character SMS splitter. I hate when texting to ATT user, getting parts of my message left off. And when I send MMS for long messages, it seems to take longer for them to get them.

I kind of feel the same way.
I'm mostly looking forward to seeing advancements this phone can accomplish with these upgrades.
Hopefully they will improve it's signal strength as well.

Did you notice the black notification bar instead of the gray bar??? Is that just hero or is this something Android 2.1 related?

EDIT: After a quick Google Image search, it appears that the black bar is HTC Hero specific. Wish I could make my bar black... I love murderin things out

My texts tell me when I have 160 characters and automatically split if I pass the 16o mark, don't yours?

it does, but it also says if the person is not a Verizon person it will only send the first 160 characters

Well, when I text my GF (AT&T), she only gets the first 160, so I don't think so. If I text friends on verizon, there's no problem.

The black bar is just the hero. Though it'd be nice to have the black option standard. Probably saves a smidge of battery.
