A little ornament. Taken with a Moto X (2014).

No matter the situation, our eyes are always drawn to flashy and bright things. That's particularly true this time of year, with holiday decorations in full force throughout December. That's why we're going with the prompt "sparkle" this week, and we're sure there will be no shortage of subject matter for you to shoot in the coming days.

In hopes of brightening up the holidays for the winners, we're picking two pictures this week to each win a Nexus Player!

Entering is easy. Just drop your entry in a post below. Tell us what Android you used to get the picture, and any back story you want to add to it. We'll pick a winner Tuesday (December 23) night at 11:59 PM ET, and announce them on the blog with next Wednesday's contest.

  • Pictures must be taken with an Android device
  • Pictures must be uploaded to the contest thread. I'm not running all over the Internet to track them down.
  • You have to tell us what device you used to take the picture, and any special software you might have used. Editing your pictures is fine — this is art.
  • Feel free to add a little back story — we want to know how the picture came to be.
  • You must have used a valid email address to register here at AC, so I know how to contact the winner.
  • Only one entry per week per person.

Good luck, everyone!

Galaxy Note 4, auto mode.

No software adjustment

So Google Auto Awesome is okay for this contest? Or does movement stop it from being a picture and turn it into something, that's, well not a picture anymore?

This is by far my favourite one... I took this one last year in Wellington, New Zealand. There's a house that gets decorated with a gazillion lights and Christmas decorations and you pay entrance fee to come and check it out. They actually collect money for their high school water polo team, which is awesome!

The photo is of the dining table which looked gorgeous, taken on my HTC One (M7)

I would love a Nexus Player for Christmas! (they are not available for purchase in New Zealand just yet)

edit: Auto Awesome Twinkle gif was converted to a non-animated gif, so sticking with the original photo with Google+ Auto Awesome enhancements.

Taken with my Z2. No edit.

Since we don't have a Christmas tree, both at home and at my work place but for a short moment in time, this did it. Taken from the repairs and improvements to one of our buildings at my workplace using fireworks mode from the stock camera app.

Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays. Happy new year!

Wdit: sorry, it rotated automatically. D:

Posted via my first Android phone.

My little Bugdroid getting in the Christmas spirit! He's waiting for his new Green Bugdroid to join him. Then they'll both be hung on me and my fiance's first Christmas tree together!

This the probably the sparkliest thing that we have. Also thought the lights from the Christmas tree made a nice little background. Taken with my Note 4, with the stock camera, and edited with the stock editing software.

Taken this morning with my Nexus 5 using lens blur setting, no post editing. I came into work today and my buddy decorated his office with the ornaments and just thought it was a cool picture. Hope you enjoy, happy holidays

I had taken this photo with a Motorola Atrix on December of 2012...My wife LOVES having a tree with a lot of her childhood decorations including Disney figurines and what not...I edited this picture, then, with Pics Art...I wish I hadn't done the dumb green vignette..lol

Taken at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. It was like going into the future with the lights sparkling and moving. Def recommend to anyone! Taken with my Note 4 and unedited.

Taken with my OnePlus One. Simple HDR.

The rose is made from book pages. My wife made her bouquet for our wedding from these paper roses, as well as her bridesmaids' bouquets, my boutonniere, and special ornaments for everyone (we had a very small wedding). This is one such ornament on our little Christmas tree.

A Nexus Player would be a great addition to our living room. My PS3 went on the fritz, and that was our set-top box for Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube. The Chromecast is great, but my wife likes a UI on the TV (and I am wont to agree with her).

Thanks for running the contest. Good luck to everyone here. I'm seeing some excellent photos.

What toddler doesn't love a Christmas tree? My two year old was delighted with ours and I couldn't resist a photo shoot!
Samsung Galaxy S4. Stock camera, Pixlr Express for post. 20141217_220821.jpg

This photo was taken on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 using the stock camera on "Selective focus" mode. No editing. Nothing.
The picture shows a Nutcracker decoration in the foreground that I picked up from a German Christmas Market stall in Berlin in 2010.

This is cool, some architectural sparkle!
