Weekly restarts. Are you still getting them?

Used to be that I would get a reminder every week to restart my device. I noticed today that I haven't noticed them lately. Initially I thought well it's because I set it to automatically restart a while back. When I checked the schedule I saw and remembered setting to a time that I would notice. Before it would restart while I was sleeping and this affected the Bixby alarm that I use so I changed to a time I knew I should be awake and one that I figured I would notice that it had restarted.

There have a been a few updates, well at least one or two, since then but I'm just now noticing that I can't recall the last time I noticed a restart, a warning to restart or anything.

What got me thinking about this today was I've noticed at least three times my S10 freezing up on me. What do you do when your device starts freezing up, you restart. Hey, wait a minute shouldn't it be restarting itself already? The rest as they say is history.

So has anyone else noticed they aren't getting the restart messages or their S10 not restarting automatically?

I still get them. Perhaps the app responsible for them has been put to sleep by the battery optimization app?

I had them set for 2 times a week at 3:30 a.m. Last week I got a notice to re-start periodically and it turned out it hadn't worked in 10 days.

I turned it off and then back on and cleared the app cache. We'll see.

Isn't Device Care responsible for this action...? It's been so long since I've seen the notification I can't remember who sends it. Anyway, Device Care cannot be put to sleep or disabled.

I will try clearing the cache for it however. I've actually wanted to factory reset the whole device for some time now but have been reluctant to pull the trigger on it. These sudden freeze ups have been pushing me towards exceptance though. LOL.

I've had no problem. I'm set to auto restart Mondays at 3:00 AM and sure enough, when I pick up the phone Monday morning it has had me sign in due to the restart.

Mine would do that and then I started getting notifications that it hadn't been restarted for some time. When I checked the status it hadn't happened for 258 hours.

I believe its coming from device care or Samsung members app

This morning my phone asked for the pin again as if it had re-started. I entered it and checked phone status. It indicated it hadn't been re-started for 149 hours.

It's definitely not working.

I've never gotten them! But I try to restart my device a bit more often than I used to. Still can't say I do it too much, though.

Wow, really? It was one of the first things I noticed. Every 7 days or so it would say something like, Device Care, your phone is overdue for a restart. Would you like to restart now? in the notifications. Perhaps you turned off the notification on this or a previous Samsung device so long ago that you've forgotten. I know with my HTCs settings almost always transferred over, and I can't believe this was something they began with the S10 line. You can find the settings for this, you may not want to turn it on but you can see them, Settings>Device care>three dots Advanced>Auto restart/Notifications

Has there been any resolution to the auto-restart not working? Mine had been just fine until 2 weeks ago. Now I've noticed it isn't restarting at the day and time I had set up.

No but there was another thread talking about similar stuff and I think it's dead. Not sure if an update killed it, Samsung killed it or it just broke. After participating in that thread I've decided to turn Auto Restart off and wait to see if the Device Care app starts sending me notifications again. It was just a few days ago so it may be a while before it would typically be triggered. I've been pushing regular restarts in threads here since Froyo or Ice Cream Sandwich, when I started noticing a lot of people with cache issues. I think the S10 was the first device I owned that had an auto restart option and I know it was the first to prompt for a restart.

Don't forget the great info provided by dbollman423 on how to check how long it's been since your device restarted...

Settings>About phone>Status>Up time

Thanks again for that.

Thx for responding. I agree, will be shutting off the auto restart. It was nice while it lasted.
