Is speakeasy speed test dependable? I just tested download speed repeatedly over 35 mbps. 4 mbps upload speed seemed possible but over 35 mbps download (highest was 45 mbps) seems inconceivable. I never got more than 15 mbps before.

It isn't possible that rooting speeded up download speed is it? The radio hasn't changed.

I've had 37 down and seen another guy post 55 down, completely stock ROM. Variation in speeds are, of course, related to your local network, but they are affected more by the server used in the speed tests. Try changing to several different servers and you'll see huge differences.

Thanks, Robrecht

I've had 45 mbps download speed once. On stock. Froyo. Speedtest.net app. And on a good day I can get on average of 25-30 mbps download

My download speeds dropped after rooting and installing new roms. Fastest speeds were stock.

I frequently use Speakeasy to verify my home DSL service speeds. Most of the time it is reliable, but in the last couple months, I've noticed it frequently indicates very poor speeds (from most locations) even though there is absolutely no noticeable difference in speed when either downloading large files or streaming Netflix.

I was just playing around with the Speedtest app and the Speakeasy website (Speakeasy - Speed Test), which uses Flash, and noticed very different results when testing from the same server (Atlanta). Via the website, I get higher download speeds (low to mid 30's) and approx. 3-5 upload, whereas the app only gets around 15-25 down and 8-12 up. Which one is more accurate? I'm leaning toward the app as there are various other variables with the website (browser and Flash plug-in) and from past experience with the website where it periodically indicated poor speeds on my home DSL service where there was no noticeable connection speed problem.

Use the Speedtest App from Ookla. It is written to work properly with LTE. None of the website type apps are optimized for dealing with LTE packet handling and data compression and will yield very high but inaccurate result numbers. Use Speakeasy when you want to impress somebody at the bar who's showing off "one of those other" devices. Use Speedtest if you want to know what your TBolt is really doing.

I knew something was screwy because my wifi is discernably faster yet speakeasy rates it as 3 X slower than LTE.
