Weird battery charging

So, my phone died, completely, wouldn't power on.

Plug in the charger, it charged to 6‰(less than 10 minutes) , I powered on the phone, the ‰ now says 46%, what?!
Any insight?

So the phone does in fact power on, and you can get to the homescreen?

It could be a defective battery. Take the battery out, place it flat on a table, and try to spin it. If it spins freely, it's bulging in the middle, which is a bad sign. But even if it doesn't spin, it could still be a battery issue. See if you can try a new or different battery.

Hey, yeah, no problem, great battery life, I just thought it was strange, to jump from 6 to 46.
