Hi
I've had this bug for several days where seemingly at random, a dark grey "phone screen" appears with the buttons at the bottom (not working), except the "end" button is red (but also not working).

Holding down the home button is the only way to temporary clear this. At that point, it takes me back to my startup screen and if I enter my password to unlock the phone, there's a several second delay (and the screen goes black) before taking me to my home page. At that point, it looks ok, until it happens again randomly.

I've tried shutting off the power and even doing a battery pull, but the problem keeps creeping back.

I have been having an intermitting issue with my widgets disappering on and off. I gointo a program and exit, the widgets are gone. Just my background image and the drawer is fine. I have to reboot to get them back. Happened like 5 times in the ast 2 days. Hasn't happned in the past 6 hours though. Very weird...

I'm not sure if its related, but I, too have had my icons/widgets/shortcuts disappear at times as well. I sort of dismissed it as unintentional user error where I might have accidentally pressed a button as the phone wasn't locked, but I can't figure out what I would have hit to delete all of those icons.

Its an error thats been discussed a few times in previous threads, Im not sure if there's a solution..I'd post a link if I werent on my device

I'm digging up this old thread to see if any solutions have been found yet. It's been happening to me intermittently for awhile, but it's happened at least 8 times in the past 2 days and is seriously annoying now. Running stock 2.1.

I've had that problem off and on (mostly off) for months and nobody has solved it to my knowledge.

I think that it's tied to the "home replacement apps"/ or "icon" modifiers. *shrug*

It happens when your launcher restarts. I use LauncherPro. Every time I need to restart it because I changed something, it does exactly what you're talking about. Hitting the home button starts the launcher, stock or otherwise. If it's happening all the time, I'd say you have a problem with the launcher you're using.

My Droid is unmodified and I haven't changed the launcher, yet am still having this issue. Very irritating.
