Weird startup shutdown behavior.

I've had my phone for about 6 weeks. A few weeks after I got it, it started acting weird.

Occasionally on shutdown, it will end with the AT&T logo, instead of the just a blue ball. Other times, it shuts down normally.

About a week after that, the startup screen would appear all scrambled every time I turned on the phone. The only way to get beyond this, is to tap the power button, then everything proceeds as normal.

Anyone else experienced this?

Here is the startup:

That looks pretty messed up.:-\ Even if the phone works normally once it boots up, I'd seriously consider bringing it back to the store, or contacting LG for warranty replacement. It's either corrupted firmware or defective hardware, and either way, I wouldn't try fixing it on your own if you can get a good replacement at no cost.

Who said anything about fixing it on my own?

I'll take it to my AT&T service center, who will replace it. I'm in no hurry to do that, however, because starting over with a new phone is a pain.

Luckily, if you have everything backed up in Google you can download your settings and apps once you log in on any new device.

Sorry, I often see posts from people who have a new phone that's acting up, and ask if there's anything they can do to fix it. So my point was that if you have the ability to get a replacement or repair under warranty, then take that opportunity. I've seen people try to fix things themselves (either hardware or software), fail at the repair, and then not be able to get a replacement because what they did voided the warranty.:'(

Well...long story short, they did what I could have done... a factory reset. So, got home, started the setup process, only to have the phone restart with the garbled boot screen again. So I got past that and began the long process of downloading hundreds of apps again. During this the phone hung, so I restarted the phone, only to get the freaky boot screen again. So the problem really hasn't gone away, it just went away long enough for me to get out of the AT&T service center.

I'm not going to bother going back for a few months now. I'll just deal with it.

Why not get it swapped out? I can't understand just dealing with that. To each their own.

Because it's just a minor inconvenience and the dude was convinced it was caused by one or more of my apps. In particular, any with Device Administrator capabilities.

The service center is 25 miles from my home.

I've spent hours re-downloading apps today. Google Play crashed on me and halted the automatic reinstall of apps, so I've had to do it manually.

Today has been a major hassle. I'm not anxious to deal with it again any time soon.
