i tried to root my eris. i was obviously unsuccessful because it wont go past shining "android" sign. it will pause like its about to boot then back to the shining android sign. i tried using the kaosfroyo32. did i brick my phone? i used the instructions on xda and everything ran through with no problems. help meeeee

This is a boot loop. I had this happen on my Nexus One once. Pull the battery, then boot into recovery (Vol up and power, I think). From there you can wipe and do a factory reset if you're still on a stock recovery (you should be since you're just rooting now).

This is just my guess of how to fix. But there shouldn't be an issue. It's very tough to brick an Android phone and this isn't it.

Yeah do not worry about it I have yet to brick my phone and many of times I thought I did.. I just reflash and I am back to breaking it again... but that is how we learn
