This is my true story. I do not recommend anyone repeat this.

I took a few days to spend hiking outdoors. Of course, it poured rain. My phone is in a holster on my belt under my raingear. On Day 3, I pulled it out and was using the map to figure out where I was in Upstate NY.

As I am looking at the map, the silly phone informs me that the battery is too hot and apps are being disabled. Could not use the map. Humid wet environment but phone was not dropped in water. Temperature was 50F. Not being charged. Phone did not feel warm. Put it back in the holster.

Half hour later look at the phone. It is off. Turn it back on and get message that phone was shut down because battery was too hot. Ignore it for rest of the day.

Back at home later that night could not get it to come on. Just about on the two year mark for this excellent phone -- best one I've owned. Time to shop for a new one.

Well, maybe water damage? Maybe I should try the rice idea.

Guess what I bought recently. Dehydrator for making jerky. What could go wrong?

Placed phone on bottom layer. Set temp to lowest, 140F. Ran it for 15 minutes. Pulled phone out. Almost burned my fingers. Let sit for 30 minutes.

Turned phone on. Has been working great for about 10 days now.

Water in the micro usb port?

When in doubt, dehydrate!

There's every chance that could have happened ! Good job on fixing it. May wish to keep some funds aside should the worst happen. Just think if you stick with Samsung the s7 and s8 are both waterproof

I would recommend people repeat that, I worked at a Verizon that also repaired phones, we fixed a few water damaged phones weekly using a food dehydrator lol.
