What apps keep the 6p awake?

Hi all.. Well I took the time consuming effort of determining what apps were keeping my phone awake. I got a replacement device from Google and been loading apps slowly back on the new device and so far found that these apps have been keeping my device awake:

Spike TV
Walmart

Feel free to add to the list.

This will be a useful thread, hopefully people will contribute!

Haven't come across any so far, but I don't have that much installed to be honest.

Apparently "Gas Buddy" is a known culprit..

Battery/WiFi/Doze

I have my phone set to "never keep WiFi on during sleep" however looking at the battery graph, it seems like it is always connected showing a solid line. I thought it disconnects the WiFi and shows gaps when not in use? I also thought doze takes care of this as well?

Compared to the first couple of days of use, I have been noticing rapid battery drain through the night (10% and greater; 8 hours of no use) where before it was draining 2-5%! I was thinking that it was an app but my phone is not waking often, if at all so I ruled that out.

Also when actually using the phone anyone experiencing rapid battery loss? Just doing regular stuff like browsing internet or sending text messages? It seems like I lose a percentage or more a minute now! I went from around 36 hours on a full charge to now around 18 hours! It's only my 5th day with the phone!

Anything by Facebook. Their apps are notoriously doze unfriendly.

Re: Battery/WiFi/Doze

Based on the graph, it's definitely dozing overnight, but your cell signal isn't dark green (the indicator of the strongest signal). That means the phone is using more power for the antenna and the battery will drain faster, even dozing. No idea about the much faster awake drain though.

Not dozing

doze is not working on my nexus 6p and i dont know why to be honest, also wifi is just a solid bar even though i turned off my wifi since i left my house and i just got 2 hours of SOT in that screen shot Screenshot_20160102-235733.jpg

Re: Battery/WiFi/Doze

Yea, I do wonder why that was. It seems like it was dark green when I was using it but not during doze? I'm a mile from downtown Philly. Usually the signal is spot on. Any idea if the graph should show a solid line or not if the WiFi is set to turn off if in sleep?

Try taking a look at your app usage and see which app was keeping it awake. It looks like some app is calling for the phone to be awake when it's idle.

As you can see I used mine some late last night before sleeping but once asleep it only woke up a tad bit compared to yours (I know mine is my weather widget updating once an hour).

Can't believe you got that kind of predicted battery life with that yellow signal bar.! Hopefully my replacement will be like that. I'm going to be popping my Sim tonight and keep my fingers crossed

Your range of hours makes it seem that you have your phone on you all day and that you're active. Doze mode is activated when the device is not plugged in, when the screen is locked, and when no motion has been detected for some time. Is there any period in your screenshot where the phone is sitting idle/still and not in a pocket or being moved around?

For the wifi issue turn off wifi scanning . Go to settings>location> 3 dots in top left corner > scanning > turn wifi scanning off, and Bluetooth if you would like to.

I do the opposite. When I am home, I shut Cell Data off and keep WiFi on. When I leave my house I turn Cell Data back on and shut off WiFi. I also keep everything off until I need it. Location (GPS), Blutooth, etc. My phone loves this arrangement and I get incredible battery life. I started doing this when I was out one night and I felt how warm my phone was getting in my pocket. I checked it and the battery was taking a hell of hit while searching for a WiFi signal when some app (which I had set to WiFi Data only) was trying to sync data and use my location services. The phone was obsessed with trying to find a WiFi signal on a open network nearby.

Nothing worse on battery life then these radios constantly searching for signals, especially if I don't need them. You should be able to depend on Android to do these things for you, but I have found they don't always work out and now do some of it manually.
