What apps will we no longer need now that we have Sense?

I am trying to cull through the apps I have on my OG Droid. Seems like Sense will have functionality that makes some of my current apps unnecessary. I know I am getting rid of launcher pro. But what about things like handcent, touchdown, folder organizer, and music players? Does HTC have better versions of these functions than other droids or are we still better off with market add ons?

Well I'm not going to be using launcherPro or ADW Launcher EX anymore, at least not for a long while. I've been wanting a Sense device for a long time now. Probably won't be using Plume anymore either since the Plume scrollable widget won't work on Sense and Sense has it's own scrollable widget. There are quite a few third party widgets that I won't be using, actually, because Sense UI has some GREAT widgets that work and look better.

A BIG one I won't be using anymore: Beautiful Widgets. I've been a big user of that app but Sense comes with that kick ass flip clock with animated weather opening effect. Man am I excited!!!:D

Not sure about this version of Sense. I like the Sense widgets, but for many things have opted for third party apps due to better performance. I use K-9 Mail as my mail client (non-Gmail), Handcent for SMS, vPlayer and Meridian for music and video, Skyfire for my browser, and Astro for file management.

Sense is a skin, like Motoblur. HTC also makes their owns apps they include with the phone (mail, sms, etc.). Over time I just gravitated to other apps for certain features and characteristics I liked better than the HTC apps. Sense itself is nice though.

I didn't know this. I hate that big clock though. Is there any way to make the clock transparent and does the animated weather effect relate to the current weather of where you are located?

For clock, I also don't like the big sense clock. I use SiMi clock widget.

You can just remove the clock and download another from market that is smaller.

Yes the animated weather from the Sense clock will relate to current weather. I recommend to shut that feature off as a small way to save some battery.

Sense has a whole bunch of clocks to choose from. It's not just that big flip clock... And with sense 2.0 there is a bunch more you can download from HTC.

A lot of people give the HTC music player a hard time, but I find it is much improved in sense 2.0. As far as the stock sms I really think HTC has the best one going, but just like everything else, try it out and if you don't like it, change it.

I believe the answer is not but with Sense can I change those stock icons on the home screen using something like Bettercut? I'm talking the static icons(phone, settings, home) I know I can do it with a launcher but not sure.

This is very helpful guys. I do need to just take it slow and try out the stock apps first, I guess. This phone has just been so long coming that I just want to have it rocking from the moment I get my hands on it. :)
