What are frequently contacted on whats app

I'm new to WhatsApp but have been looking at my husbands WhatsApp daily an I see a certain name that pops up an then goes away an reappears does this mean he is talking to this person on a daily basis like maybe messaging are calls I can't seem to find anything out any advice about the app would be awesome thanks
