What Are PRL Update?

What do they do and why do the constantly show in my Sprint Zone after I've allowed them to update like a billion times.

I'm a little ignorant when it comes to the smartphones in someways...sorry...LOL...

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe its a list of network towers that your provider uses for their network. It helps the phone pinpoint which towers to use and when new towers are brought online.

Update PRL" makes the same type of request to the OMADM, in this case though it sends your Preferred Roaming List. This is basically a list of tower Ids and capabilities. Carriers will often release new PRLs as towers get built/updated and roaming contracts with other carriers change. It saves them lots of money to be sure you are roaming on the cheapest tower since they have to pay the respective company for your airtime. from my EVO 4g lte

Not only the cheapest, but the best for you too. If a tower was added and your phone doesn't know about it, it will have to use a tower that is further away (and thus a poorer signal and user experience).
