I've seen the s3 commercials where u can easily send pics just by standing next to someone instantly.. How is this done? Just blue tooth? What are some of the other features this phone has that maybe some if not most of us don't know about..

Its done using the NFC feature to launch the WiFi sharing app.
Its something that GS3 devices have a special app for.
If you touch the backs of any GS3 device you have the option to share files, contact info, apps, links and other stuff.
Sammy also incorporates direct wifi, so large files can be transfered at higher speeds.

This is all strict to the G3 and not the G2 as well?

Correct, GS2 does not have NFC capabilities at this time.
I think one of the big memory chip makers was trying to create a micro sd card that had an NFC chip but not sure how thats coming along.
The GS3 and EVO LTE have NFC chips.. But the GS3 has extra software bult in that allows other GS3 devices to enable WiFI sharing.

Right but requires manual set up.
The GS3 uses the NFC to start the sharing.
Anyway, thats just splitting hairs.

I've seen those commercials where you touch the backs of the unit. Would I be correct to assume that if you have protective case around the unit, that the touch feature would no longer work?

One cool feature that I came across (coming from a Galaxy S) is that I received an email with a PDF of an invoice of a purchase I made. The invoice included a FedEx tracking number.

When I clicked on VIEW from Gmail to see the PDF, it opend a Polaris Viewer for the PDF. When I long-pressed on the FedEx tracking number in the PDF, it opened the FedEx website and showed me the tracking for that number.

I don't recall my Epic 4G doing that, but I skipped the Galaxy S2 series. Is this a new "smart" feature?

Yes it still works. Its a wireless connection and does not actually require them to touch, just be super close, i think an inch or so is as far away as it works.
