What are the pros and cons for root users?

I've been meaning to ask what are pros and cons of root users?

I've been planning to root my S8+ for awhile and I wanted to ask about rooting.

What are the benefits of rooting? Do I get better battery life, better performance ect.

And what about the drawbacks for rooting? I know the usual you lose your warranty stuff but is there any other disadvantages in rooting?

Some apps won't work anymore. As rooted phones are deemed less secure, apps like Netflix and bank apps can't be installed. (There are workarounds but I don't know how good they are, or for how long they will work.)

This is the primary reason why I won't root a phone. I want my apps to work all the time, every time.

Pro - aside from the fact that some people simply don't feel comfortable running Linux (which is the operating system Android runs in) without having full control, there are many apps that won't run without root. (Aside from being able to run those apps, there's no "pro". Root has no effect on an app that will run without root, except for the control. For instance, ES File Explorer will run fine, but you won't be able to see anything in the system files unless the phone is rooted.)

About the only con is that it voids the warranty. (If you use Magisk to root the phone, apps like Netflix can be "hidden from root", so they'll run. It's not exactly what some would consider "root" [which is, basically, having a program called sudo, which has been renamed to su in Android phones] to tell apps that require root that they have it. In Linux if you run sudo you're asked for the root password, in Android if you run a rooted app it brings up an app called SuperSU or SuperUser, and you can grant or deny root to that app. [That's so viruses can't just grab root permission.])
@SL2, they work, and they keep working. If the app, say Netflix, checks for root and gets no response (which is what Magisk will do if Netflix is in the Hidden list - it does nothing if Netflix asks for root), the app works. But if you have no real need for root, and rooting voids the warranty, there's no reason to root.
