What are you gonna do different with Maxx than previous Droids?

Having had a droid before, and knowing it's ability to customize/OVERcustomize..are you doing anything different with this one?
I'm giving myself a day to think on apps before just installing them. Do I NEED them? I say that because when I surfed through the card from my old X, I found a lot of needless folders created by apps I had uninstalled. Junking things up. I was surprised.
An example is photos. I had several photo editing apps installed/uninstalled. And, I never really did find where all of my photos were stored on the card. Just in different folders. Very confusing.
That said, I think the Android system has refined itself a lot and maybe we don't need so many third party apps and widgets to eat up resources.

Also, I'm ok with just creating a folder and putting it on the home screen with shortcuts to often used apps. Not so many screens to flip over to.

Just wanna keep Maxx a little cleaner, and not so many updates being shoved at it.

Really? There's 195 views in the past 3 hours...and nobody said anything. LOL.

But..on the upside, that's showing this forum in particular is getting a lot of traffic.

Just a personal observation... not trying to be critic of you, but not everybody is coming from a "Droid"... some from HTC devices, some from Samsumg devices... mostly just Motorola put the name "Droid" on their devices.

Plus I'm sure we have a few former Blackberry and iPhone users.

Since this is my 3rd Android device... and 5th smartphone... if I've learned anything with each is they are all different. Therefore I always use it for a little while and try to figure out what I need to add to it to do what I want it to do.

haha, Ok, makes sense.
point taken.
I've just learned that just because you CAN customize a Droid, doesn't always mean you should. I think twice now.

Im still debating on which device to get. iphone, razr maxx, or nexus. So i'm just trying to read and learn until March 28th [update day]

im just looking for a phone that will last me 2 years and let me do enjoyable tasks without major limitations.

I had the Orig. Droid and am now trying to be a bit more hesitant with my new Razr...I can't say the OD really slowed much or anything, but it certainly had lost some of the snap it had. So far, I'm still running stock browser and texter three months later. Oh, and the phone app is stock, too. So all three of those are much better than they used to be and I've not yet seen a reason to replace them.

Re: What are you gonna do different with Maxx than previous Droid

I moved up from an HTC Droid Incredible to the Maxx, and it is pure awesomenessivity. The larger app memory allows me to install more apps without worrying too much about the dreaded "Low Memory" warning that would often pop up on the Incredible, and the greater speed of the Maxx makes it less likely to lag. That said, I also try not to duplicate functions with 3rd party apps unless those apps are far superior to what's already on the phone.

For example, I usually install ES File Explorer on my Android devices, but so far it seems that the preinstalled Motorola File Manager app might be adequate, so I'll hold off for now. If I find later that I need better file navigation, I can always install it easily.

On the other hand, the Android stock browser is still far too slow for my liking, even with the faster processor and faster network speeds, so I still installed Dolphin Mini.

I know what you mean about junking up your phone with too many apps--it's too bad that it already IS junked up with a plethora of junk apps (I'm looking at you, VideoSurf, and basically all of the Verizon apps). I'm guessing I can't uninstall Madden NFL 12, although I was able to move it to internal SD storage (which is great, because that damn thing is >200 MB in size!). This phone definitely has more bloatware than my old Incredible, but that's a small price to pay for the rest of the package.

Since Madden is probably a decent game we got for free, I guess I'll just keep it, since it'd probably be harder to reinstall it free afterwards.
