Android Central Question

I have a samsung galaxy s5 active. For the past year it has been awful, especially the past 6 months. It constantly freezes, takes forever to open text messages. Can't answer a call half of the time. I've factory reset it at least twice in the last year. I can't take it anymore.

I need a new phone. BUT I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on one. I just cannot see spending that much money on a phone! I'm through AT&T Prepaid right now. Are any of the phones they have available going to work better than what I've got right now. Mine is 4 years old. I was looking at the LG phoenix 3 or the samsung express 2

The difference between the S5 Active and the 2 phones you mention is that the S5 Active used a "flagship" SoC (processor), the Snapdragon 8xx series while the other two are using more budget-minded SoC's.

In fact - the LG uses a Snapdragon 201 and the Express 2 (which is really old in tech terms at 5 years, maybe I'm looking at the wrong one?) uses a Snapdragon S4. You won't be happy with these.

Motorola makes some decent low-mid tier phones at good price points that you'd probably be MUCH happier with.

In this case - you literally get what you pay for. If you shop budget price you get budget specs.
