I want to replace my Nexus 4 with a refurbished phone in the $150-170 price range. Must be a GSM LTE phone. What do you recommend?

You could probably find a Nexus 5 (possibly even new) for around that much. Nexus 5 is still an excellent phone, with the only weak point being its mediocre battery.

The lousy battery life is why I want to replace the Nexus 4. I am seriously thinking about getting a OEM equivalent battery and doing a replacement for a total of $50

Also look into the ZenFone 2.

I decided to bite the bullet and purchase what is hopefully an OEM quality battery and have it installed by a repair service.

The only thing I don't like about this phone is now that it's almost 3 years old is the battery life.
