Our child Has been using Amazon 7" Fire Tablets, am planning on getting a new tablet by Christmas and would like some info on what tablets are the best. Ideally a straight android os would be great, but whatever is durable, good battery life, and most ram, memory; basic use, simple games like roblox, minecraft, etc. There are so many tablets out there hoping someone with more knowledge might be able to offer some options? Thanks.

I got a Lenovo Tab 4 8" for my daughter, and it's been quite good for the price (it's about $129 retail, but you can often find it cheaper, especially as a refurb, which is what I did). Good screen (it's only 720P, but I don't think that matters much on an 8" screen, especially for a kid), nice front-firing stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, microSD slot, decent performance, good battery life. She can play Minecraft and Roblox without problems. It got updated from Nougat to Oreo, which I wasn't expecting for a budget tablet, and actually got a couple more security patches after that. I was so impressed by it that I got one for my mother and myself!

You can find it for $89 as a refurb on Woot.com (whom I've purchased from -- they're a good company). https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...%3Fref%3Dw_cnt_lnd_cat_pc_6_12&token=4trpNwVh

That depends on how many apps she wants to install. Media and documents can be saved to an SD card, and if needed, the tablet does support Adoptable Storage (i.e., you can format the SD card as Internal Storage).

With the adoptable storage can apps like games be saved to the sd card? That's been an issue in the past, media & docs store to sd card but most apps will only save to internal memory.

With Adoptable Storage, the SD card becomes part of Internal Storage, which means apps can actually be installed to the card. It's not an ideal solution, though, because SD cards are inherently unreliable, and are more prone to failure when they're being overwritten much more frequently than they were intended to be. In addition to that, some manufacturers have been known to be fairly clumsy with their implementation of Adoptable Storage, which might explain what you mention about not being able to save apps to the card on certain devices.

I'm looking at a tablet/music player that offers using the sd card as internal storage, I don't really need the extra space as this is only going to be used to play music from the sd card; and online from iheartradio. Would you suggest formating the card for internal or keep it portable?
