What do you use your Galaxy for?

I'm thinking about picking up a Galaxy 10.1 but debating if I spend the money for the 32gb vs the 16gb. I also want to know what you use your Galaxy for? I feel the only thing I'd use it for is web browsing. I have a Dinc that I rooted, but how easy is it to root the Galaxy and what additional benefits would be gained?

Thanks!

Here's what I use mine for:

Media consumption including, watching video podcasts, movies, & online video. Also for listening to music, podcasts, & audiobooks. Internet access, reading books, & accessing my documents wirelessly. Netflix viewing, playing a few games, & social media updating. I also read emails, catch up on the news and read magazines & the newspaper. I guess that's enough for now. There are also alot of others things that you can use a tablet for but I'll end there.

Since I picked up my Tab, I haven't touched my laptop, or Kindle. And I've deleted a bunch of memory eating games from my Evo since I can now play them on my Tab.

How are you guys watching netfix? I don't see it in the market. I use mine for vnc to my computers, remote control for my htpc, games, rdp for work, browsing the Internet, you tube, music, email, and ebooks.

It's not in the market for some stupid reason. But one of the beauties of Android is not having just one place to get apps!
Get Netflix right here!

Crap nm that didn't work for me. The app opens but when I go to play something it says that can't connect. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have the LTE model like I do. I used this from xda to get mine to work : Verizon 4g LTE Tab - Netflix Working - xda-developers.
Yes.... it requires root. But it was very easy. Less than 5 minutes :-)
I use mine for browsing, Netflix, instant messaging, games, notes, and preloaded mine with some movies I ripped fro blu-ray. Get the 32 if you're going to put movies on it.

I tether it to my phone and use it for mostly games, net, minor typing, reading, movies, and other stuff. Nothing major or important.

Just to confirm installing Netflix on your tab does NOT require root. Im not rooted and I have Netflix working on my Verizon LTE. Just go to step two and start from there and you should be good to go.

I wasn't aware that this would work without root. I used to get the connecting error before I rooted. This is good news for my customers who buy this. Thanks for the heads up Dukins :-)

It works without rooting. And to answer the initial OP's question, fly swatter. :-)

Sorry, it's late and I couldn't help myself. Muhhhhaaaaahhhhhh! Love my Tab!

How do you move the files I to the system folder if your not rooted? Or flash the patch?

UPDATE: woohoo! You actually can just flash that patch in recovery. Awesome!

No problem, anytime. I just did not see any reason to root my device at this point in time. I was happy to find out on xda that I could just flash the patch with stock recovery. Enjoy!

I think I'm leaning towards the Galaxy 10.1 but it seems to be lacking a USB feature to hook up external HD/Thumb drives?

Also, is there any different between a 16GB and 32GB other than just the size? It seems that the 32GB are those from Google I/O? Does it have an outdated OS version? etc.

I know this may not be a perfect solution, but there is an adapter for USB. So I wouldn't completely rule out the Galaxy 10.1 just because of it's lack of USB port, but just be aware of the extra price of getting that compatibility.

I've really stopped carrying my USB drive. I now rely on Zumo & Evernote. If I don't have WiFi available, I tether. If I am going to a client job that will not have internet on the system(s) I'm working on, I will take my USB with updated tools, however, that is becoming increasingly rare.

I think the only difference between the 16G and 32G is available space.... nothing else.
