It can be a couple things. The most common one is that you're not supplying enough current for it to properly charge. If you connect it to a standard USB port (0.5A output) or if your cable/charger is faulty, it will display that icon. The other possible cause could be that your battery is faulty and is no longer taking charge properly. Furthermore, if the USB connector is faulty, that could cause the battery not to charge properly, popping up that red X.
