what does the number of bars in the signal meter mean? (4G, 3G or CDMA signal?)

I've never thought about this, after a few months with my Note II.

If I'm on wi-fi, the "4G LTE" symbol goes away in the status bar, leaving just a signal meter showing the number of bars.

What do those bars mean? Is it showing the signal for 4G, 3G, or CDMA?

I believe it's the bars for 1x. Which ever voice uses

so there's no way to see how good the 4G LTE signal is in my area?

You can download a speed test app from Google play and check how fast your 4glte is. But it's better to do it a couple of times to get an average

When wifi is off. And the 4g it's there the bars are the signal strength for lte
