What does the X in 5X stand for?

Makes sense to me. I know a lot of people questioned the naming of the two devices, and having this AMA answered that pretty clearly. It's also good to see this AMA so close to the announcement.

Google came up with a new name scheme because they couldn't call it Nexus 6/7 so they added a letter which is smart. Do you guys think LG is kind of **** that they took a backseat to the Huawei? Why couldn't LG make the 5.7 flagship or higher-end phone for Google?

I don't think they took a backseat. Whatever the arrangements were for who to make what, there's no one company taking the lead and/or other taking a backseat to the other.

plus, I dont think anyone is going to be happy or sad until you see the sales figures come out on which model sells better.
