What exactly is mediaserver?

I lost 13% overnight, and this is using up a lot. What is it and what could be using so much? Is it social media like twitter?

Edit: It may be an idea to reboot before going to sleep so any unnecessary running processes will stop.

Does clearing the ram before bed also help?

When looking at BetterBatteryStats, sometimes the Audiut2 (it sends any audio) wakelock keeps itself going on my Note 2 and restarting the phone helps. Propably this hasn't got anything to do with this thread, but just saying. A reset may help in this, too.
