What functions are lost when pairing the new galaxy watch with an LG phone?

I'm looking at getting the Bluetooth galaxy watch, but don't want a watch I can't have use of all funcations.

You'll get all the notifications pushed from the phone ,and the use of any app in the app store, but im pretty sure you need native Samsung apps (phone, messages, email) to be avle to retrieve them at any time (not just push notifications that are gone once you dismiss them)

I've got an LG g6 and bought the new galaxy watch almost two weeks ago. You are not able to view message threads but can reply to new messages. I'll be going in to find out if it's just my watch but I don't get the notifications on my watch until I double tap to view my lock screen and then after it shuts back off the notification appears on watch. Defeats the whole purpose. If nothing can be done I'll be returning it this weekend
