If you have an Android Wear cellular watch, you can make and receive calls right on your watch. You'll need the following:

Cellular service Cellular service (calling with Verizon is not yet supported, but will be coming soon)
Service for your watch added to your phone plan
SIM card for your watch on the same service as your phone

So if my phone were Sprint, I could not use Tmo SIM in LGWU2 to make calls? Really? Or did I interpret wrongly?

I think it simply means your watch SIM needs to have voice, SMS and data, just like your phone. You should have no problem using watch on a Tmo SIM or any other GSM carrier's SIM with your Sprint Phone.

TY. that makes sense now.

Truphone SIM in the watch and Cricket Wireless in the phone. No problems.

I looked up truphone pricing, which looks good. 9c per MB. Given the AW limitation, I don't think I'll use large data (1/10th of my phone).

If you don't mind, how much data do you normally use montly? About 30MB?

Yeah 90% of my data comes from syncing GPS tracked runs. About the only time I turn on cellular data is when I leave the phone in the car during runs 3 or 4 times a week unless I accidentally leave my phone somewhere. I turn off notifications from email and social apps during runs. I've only used about 12MB and made a couple of calls in April. I'm up to about $1.55 for the month :)

Agree with acegolfer; they either worded it wrong accidentally or don't have a clue.
I even used my watch with foreign SIM cards overseas, and it flawlessly connected remotely with my cell phone which is on Tmobile USA.
