What happened? Battery died after 3 hours

What the heck happened, my battery went dead after 3 hours in the case. I usually get 16 hours. I had it in the case on my hip and went to look at a email and the battery was in the red after only about 3 hours. I usually get 16 hours with normal use. I have had the phone since Nov 6 and this never happened in the past. Was there some sort of update or something that made the battery drain so quickly?

No updates were sent. What kind of case were you using? If it had a magnet it might of stayed on in car or bedside mode which would drain your battery.

The case is the plastic one from VZ for $29.00 this has never happened before. The case is all plastic, no magnets.

Something was running to cause your battery to drain like that. I'd fully charge it and see what happens. You really don't have any other choices. If it does it again you may want to perform a hard reset.

Something was running to cause your battery to drain like that. I'd fully charge it and see what happens. You really don't have any other choices. If it does it again you may want to perform a hard reset.

So what does a HARD RESET does in this case to solve the problem?
